An Interview with Dr. R. Aaron Eissens on Invisalign
Dr. R. Aaron Eissens is a dentist and has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Invisalign.
Q. What is an invisalign?
A. Invisalign is a way to move teeth without using conventional braces, and instead uses clear plastic aligners, which fit over your teeth.
Q. How does invisalign work?
A. Invisalign works by progressively moving teeth using clear plastic aligners. A patient comes in, impressions are taken then sent to Invisalign. Invisalign scans the impressions, and using computer models, positions the teeth in an ideal relationship. It then determines how many aligners it will take to move the teeth from the starting point to the the end point. This can be as few as 10 to as many as 30+ aligners, depending on how much movement is necessary. Each aligner is slightly different and moves the teeth in the patients’ jaw. The patient then wears each aligner for two weeks at a time, and then switches to the next aligner in sequence. Over time, the teeth are moved into place.
Q. What are the primary benefits of invisalign?
A. The primary benefit is that no braces are necessary, and the aligners can be removed while eating.
Q. How long does invisalign treatment take?
A. The treatment time depends on how much movement is necessary. Most cases can be done in less than an year.
Q. How much does invisalign cost?
A. Typically an invisalign case is $3500-6000.
Q. Who uses invisalign?
A. Invisialign can be used by teens and adults.
Q. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?
A. There aren’t any conditions that automatically exclude someone from using invisalign. That would be determined by the dentist or orthodontist that is doing the case. If major movement is necessary, invisalign may not be the best option. Certainly, any dental problems such as decay or broken teeth would need to be treated before starting invisalign.
Q. How to contact Dr. Eissens if we have further questions?
A.
