A. Our excellent office managers are happy to review your insurance policies and help you to maximize your benefits. In most cases we are able to submit your claims electronically. We also provide third -party financing options, i.e. Care Credit.
Q. What types of Insurance do you accept?
A. We accept private insurance as well as PPO plans. However, we are not PPO providers at this time. We do not accept HMO or DMO plans.
Q. What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?
A. A dental implant is like having a real tooth. It is placed in the jawbone, similar to the root of a tooth. This helps maintain a healthy bone level and with a permanent implant crown, it prevents drifting and supra-eruption of the surrouding teeth. From a hygiene standpoint, it is much easier to keep the gums clean around an implant crown than cleaning around a bridge.
Q. Why is Crown and Bridge Treatment necessary?
A. This depends on each individual case. Most often, a crown is necessary when there is not enough sound tooth structure to hold a simple filling. A crown helps protect the remaining tooth structure from further fracture or loss of the tooth. A bridge may be necessary when a tooth is lost. Having a bridge helps give the person a "tooth" to chew with and fills in the space to be more esthetically pleasing. These days, more and more people prefer an implant rather than a bridge to fix a space due to a missing tooth. The long-term prognosis for an implant is generally more favorable than a bridge.
Q. What is an invisalign, how does it work and what are its benefits?
A. Invisalign is a clear tray system that straightens your teeth over a period of time. Each "aligner" is worn for about 2 weeks and then you switch to the next set of aligners. Within each aligner, minor movements of the teeth are built in. By constantly wearing them, your teeth eventually are straightened. The great benefits of Invisalign is that they are virtually invisible, so most people don't even know you are wearing the aligners, and since they are removable, it is easy to keep your teeth clean. Once your teeth are straightened, it is easier to floss and remove plaque, therefore reducing your incidence of gum disease.
Q. If a person likes to have his/her teeth whitened, what is the best product to use?
A. There is no "best" product" necessarily. It depends on the person. Many people prefer the in-office whitening systems like Zoom, because it is finished in about an hour. Some people are very sensitive and cannot tolerate this procedure. So for them we recommend at home whitening trays. They place whitening gel in the trays and wear them every day for about 30 minutes for 2 weeks. The benefit of doing it this way is that you can monitor your sensitivity level. There are also whitening toothpastes and rinses, but those are generally more effective for surface stains, rather than changing the shade of your teeth.
Q. Do veneers look natural?
A. Veneers can look like real teeth, if done correctly! It depends on the color match, how much tooth structure is removed, and if they are the right shape and size for the patient. If any of these factors are deficient, it can affect the natural look of a veneer.
