Q. What is the long-term follow-up schedule?


A. Patient is expected to follow up with me every two to three months for the first year, and then in an annual basis.
 
Q. How does the adjustable gastric band work?

A. It’s an adjustable Silicon Band that basically slows the passage of food from upper part of the stomach to the lower part, therefore resulting in smaller food portions and therefore lower daily calorie intake.
 
Q. Is Bariatric Surgery Covered By Health Insurance?

A. In cases of morbid obesity, when it’s a health risk, it is covered by PPO insurances.
 
Q. Do Bariatric Patients Regularly Suffer From Health Complications?

A. Prevalence of Diabetes, Hypertension, Sleep Apnea, and Lower extremity arthritis and heart problems is much higher in this group of patients.
 
Q. What is Bariatric Surgery?

A. It’s the field of surgery that deals with reducing the stomach volume to help with the weight loss in morbidly obese patients or patients with severe obesity that already have life threatening health issues.
