A. Dental implants act as a replacement for lost, natural teeth. The procedure begins by placing a titanium ‘root’ (which is the implant itself) into the bone socket of a missing tooth. Once this is complete, an abutment (connector) is screwed onto the posted ‘root’ to act as the new tooth. In order to make the implant look as natural as possible, a custom crown is made to cover the abutment and match the rest of the patient’s smile.
