| Dr. is an Optometrist and who has answered some of the common questions bizymoms visitor have about LASIK.
Q.What is LASIK?
A.Lasik is one of the procedures we do to corrected a refractive condition. Lasik can correct, near sightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism or presbyopia. It is a safe and fairly painless correction that can change your life.
Q.How long does the surgery take?
A.The laser procedure itself takes about 1 minute each eye. The total time from walking into the laser surgery room to walking out takes about 20 minutes for both eyes.
Q.After LASIK how soon can I return to work?
A.I recommend having the procedure on a Friday. The uncomfortable feeling lasts about 3 hours after surgery. Your eyes will be foggy for the rest of the day. When you wake up on Saturday morning the vision will be incredible. Take the weekend easy and relax. Your back to work on Monday like nothing really happened with an incredible new look on life.
Q.Will I need reading glasses after my surgery?
A.Depending on your age and correction will determine if you will need reading correction. I am 51 years old, had Lasik last year and do not need any reading correction. Everything will be determined in the preop evaluation to determine what you most likely will need after Lasik surgery.
Q.How soon can I drive after the surgery?
A.If you have the procedure done on Friday I will need to see you the next day for the one day post op appointment and you will ,most likely be able to drive into the appointment.
Q.What type of anesthesia is used during the surgery?
A.They use a topical anesthesia, meaning an eye drop. No needles at all.
Q.Will I be able to have both eyes treated at the same time?
A.Depending on your correction, most of the time we do both procedures back to back taking a total of 20 minutes for both procedures.
