A. Symptoms involve pain to Hot, cold and when pressure is applied to the tooth. Sometimes the patient has no symptoms and an x ray will reveal an abcess on the root end of the tooth.
Q. Are pain pills and antibiotics an acceptable substitute for root canal?
A. Antibiotics and pain pills are sometimes used to treat an infected tooth, but ultimately do not take care of the problem, as they are designed to help with the symptoms only.
Q. Are there alternative treatments for root canal?
A. Alternative treatment is extraction (removal) of the tooth, with replacement using an implant, fixed or removable bridge.
Q. How much will the procedure cost?
A. Costs varies depending on the number of canals (tunnels) in the tooth. Rough estimates are from $350-$1000 for the root canal.
Q. Will the tooth need any special care or additional treatment?
A. After a root canal, the tooth will need to have a crown (cap) to cover the tooth and restore the tooth back to normal.
