How to Create the Best Possible CV/Resume:professional cv

The key to getting the job you want is your resume. The more professional and attractive your résumé is, the more likely you are to land in a job which you will love! A resume is a document which simply promotes you and gives an employer an idea of all the fantastic things you’ve done throughout your career…believe me, it’s NOT a job application or a confession!

Employers receive hundreds and hundreds of résumés, so if you want to hook up with the right job it’s important that your résumé hooks up with your employer ASAP. A catchy way to do this is to use job titles and skill headings which connect with the job that you are looking for. The headings that you put in should market the actual nature of your job duties.

As they look at your résumé, employers make instantaneous judgments. If they see vague job titles or skills, they’ll most probably automatically disqualify you. So make sure that the design of your résumé brings out the key information (work experience, skills and education) upon first glance.

It’s vital for your résumé’s content to be excellent too. Use powerful words or numbers to describe and add detail to your achievements and responsibilities. These will help boost your image in the minds of the employers. General statements will never create an impression and can be easily skipped or forgotten. The more specific you are in your description, the better you are likely to perform.

Also to create a mind blowing résumé, you should know the know-how in analyzing key words in job ads. Pick these words from the job description and try to scatter them throughout your résumé; this will help the employer connect the job with your résumé.

Just because your résumé contains information relevant to the job ad doesn’t mean that you’ll get the job. If you have any additional skills which you think the employer is likely to need, add those into your resume and let the employer know how you can satisfy his wide range of needs, other than those mentioned in the job description. It’s important to link your skills with the employer’s goals - emphasize how you can use your skills to contribute towards these goals.

Your résumé’s content should be well organized, meaning that important information should come at the top. You can rate the information depending on its importance, how much it would ideally impress and how relevant it is to the job you are applying for. TOP info should positively come at the TOP; NEVER forget that!

Don’t send out a uniform résumé to all the jobs you are applying for. Tweak your résumé to ensure that it hits the employer at the right points. Although your skills might be the right ones for the job, the employer has to be able to connect your skills with the job being offered.

So there you go, some great ways to bullet-proof your resume…you are now geared for ACTION!
