About Indiana State Which Indiana city do you belong to?
Indiana is the 19th state to have been officially recognized by the United States of America and is situated in the Great Lakes region. It has a population of approximately 6.3 million. It is also known as the smallest state in continental US west of the Appalachian Mountains. The capital of the state is Indianapolis, which is also the largest city. The state is more popular nationally for its athletic events and its sports teams: the NBA's Indiana Pacers, the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, the Hoosier Hysteria (a strong basketball tradition), and the Indianapolis 500 motor sports race. The people of Indiana are called Hoosiers. The origins of this name is not known, though there are many stories floating around with regard to this. The name of the state can be translated to 'Indian Land' or 'Land of the Indians.' The name originates from the 1768 Indiana Land Company and was initially used by Congress when it was unceded Indian land.

Indiana State Song
On the Banks of the Wabash Far Away

Written by Paul Dresser
Composed by Paul Dresser

Round my Indiana homestead wave the cornfields, In the distance loom the woodlands clear and cool. Often times my thoughts revert to scenes of childhood. Where I first received my lessons, nature's school. But one thing is missing in the picture, Without her face it seems so incomplete. I long to see my mother in the doorway As she stood there years ago her boy to greet.

(Chorus) Oh, the moonlight's fair tonight along the Wabash From the fields there comes the breath of new mown hay. Thro' the sycamores the candle lights are gleaming, On the banks of the Wabash, far away.

Many years have passed since I strolled by the river, Arm in arm with sweetheart Mary by my side. It was there I tried to tell her that I loved her, It was there I begged of her to be my bride. Long years have passed since I strolled thro' the churchyard She's sleeping there my angel Mary dear. I loved her but she thought I didn't mean it. Still I'd give my future were she only here.

(Chorus)

Living in Indiana, Express your views about living in Indiana
Housing can be very expensive in many states but in Indiana you can find a relatively big house for a reasonable price. People here seem to love big houses. This will however not be an investment as property values do not appreciate very much. The crime rate is about the same as the nation's average, but then again, it is likely that that much research would be done to find a safe city to avoid crime. Unemployment rate is 5.3% which seems pretty good in comparison to other states. The cost of living is little more than the national average. Indiana's standard of education is not one of the best in the nation, but there are still good schools around including higher education institutions such as prestigious Purdue.
