Commercial Cleaning

I started out doing residential cleaning and found that customers wanted more than they were paying for. They can also be very picky (being that's their home), and are often watching over your shoulder. It got to be very time consuming for me being since I don't like to clean with people in the way of my progress, so I decided to try the commercial field.

This was 5 years ago and it's still going strong. I remember I bought an old fax machine at a garage sale for $25 and it worked,so the investment was worth it. I then made myself a flyer listing my services and headed for the phone book copying all the fax numbers of businesses.

I faxed my services to these businesses and was surprised that many called me back for estimates the very same day. This was 5 years ago and I been making a pretty good living with it. Commercial cleaning services are very high and businesses are willing to pay the price. You can call around to other cleaning services in your area to get an idea on what they are charging for their services and maybe go a little lower on your price until you get some experience in bidding. Make yourself some contracts!!! This is very important so you'll always be assured of getting paid and will know more or less how long you'll be working for a company.

Most average-sized commercial businesses take about an hour to an hour and a half to clean and this is doing it yourself, but you can always get a friend or family member to help you. To give you an example of the money that's out there in commercial cleaning, I was (and still am) hired to clean this one business once a week. I charge them $180.00. This place takes me 45 minutes to clean with the help of my daughter -- that's $720 for only 4 hours a month!!! Think if you can get 5 or 6 businesses and only work half a day.

Ladies, the money is there and it doesn't take a lot of your time. You work as much or as little as you want and still have lots of time for your family. After 5 years of working and trying to find the best method to run this, I now have 6 employees that go out to clean for me. They make a good salary and I make money too.

Hope this helps someone thinking of going into the business or an inspiration to other ladies to not be afraid to start their own business and follow their dreams.
