Relocating to Houston???
My husband's company maybe relocating him Houston. It looks like more than just office gossip this time, so we're trying to learn about the city and where we might like to live.
I have never been to Houston. My husband has been there on a few business trips but hasn't really been able to experience anything, but the traffic.
We have 3 children (12, 8 and 3 yrs), so schools are also important to us. We are fine with public school. My husband and I want our kids to attend a "high performing" school that has low disciplinary as well as high parent involvement and supports the arts.
Not only do we have 3 children, but we also have a dog. So neighborhoods that have good-sized yards would also be nice.
I would love to hear the about Houston and the surrounding areas and their schools (honesty and the pros and cons would be appreciated). Any tips, hints and advice for someone that is relocating are also greatly appreciated.
I'm excited to hear what you all have to say! And I'm looking forward to being in the south again! (I'm from Memphis, TN and now live in Colorado Springs, CO)
Thanks yall!
Brandie
P.S. Does Houston lighting bugs? I would love my kids to be able to play in the yard and catch them the way I did when I was a little girl.

Hi Brandie,
Thank you for joining Living In Houston Homes Real Estate Discussions forum. It is a bit difficult to suggest a location for you without knowing where you will live. It is best to look for place according to the location of your workplace. Houston is vast and finding good public schools will not be a problem at all.
However if you are budget conscious the look to settle in Sugar Land. It has a wonderful lifestyle and affordable houses. You can easily manage to find a decent four-bedroom house for $350,000. And kids have plenty outdoor activities including swimming gpools, tennis courts and golf courses. All the best in moving to Houston, keep us posted of your developments. Till then bye.
