A New Year has dawned and as everything around us appears to be new in some way or we try to recreate a new atmosphere for us to mark the beginning of a new year, something we all try to make a change in is our homes.
So here are some tips that could help you create that new home which you would like to reflect the new you.
To start, before making any changes try to understand the current situation of your house. What is your living situation like, right now? Is it too small or too big to maintain? Do you not have enough shelf space or do you have too many furniture around? Is it a home that you do not recognize as a reflection of your personality?
Once you have a clear picture of what your current living condition is like, then it is time to make reasonable adjustments.
First, look at the size of your home. Your home deco depends mainly on whether you’re living in a large house or a small apartment.
Most people like their homes to reflect their personality, interest or a famous personality they relate to. If this is you, you can try using a theme based on that. For instance, if you’re a big fan of James Bond then having certain gadgets as decorations might be the ideal theme for you. Whatever your taste maybe, deciding on a theme will always help as it will keep you focused on what you want to change and what not to.
Some of the basic principals to follow are, if you’re home is small, try to give it more height by painting the ceilings with the same color as the walls. This helps it appear bigger and spacious than it is. Choosing furniture and home pieces that have low lines can also help.
If you’re a nature lover or live in an area where you can only see the sky and buildings and want to bring in the outdoors, you can arrange plants inside your home. Keep in mind to select plants that can be easily maintained indoors and can survive under your room temperature.
Finally, many people prefer to be environmental friendly. While this not only helps Mother Nature but also make your home a healthier environment to live in.
Remember, you’re home should not only be beautiful but also a healthy and comfortable place for you, your loved ones and everyone around. |
