Yes, yes, yes! We've all craved to have that beautiful, elegant home that we can bring our family and friends to not only to entertain but also to show off the haven we proudly call our ‘home'.

But somehow our homes are never good enough or at least as elegant and luxurious as we would like for it to look when we bring our friends over so most of the time we tend to push it off.

It's not that we don't know what we want, but it's more in terms of not knowing whether we can afford the luxuries we would like to have.

Meaning, you don't necessarily have to have loads of money to make your home a luxurious and elegant place. Some minor changes or additions that don't cost much can do the trick.

Like what? For example, the expensive china, crystals or silver you've got hidden in a cupboard for a special occasion can be used to give your kitchen elegance by displaying it. This doesn't just mean you have luxurious items but it also gives a sense of luxury living.

How about your furniture? You can give elegance by adding silk covers to the cushions. Maybe not all of them but blend them with your ordinary cushions and that will add a sense of elegance. Even a simple silk or expensive material that you have that cannot be used for a big project can be used where there is emphasis in the living room.

You can do the same with your bedroom to add luxury. Simply add a couple of pillows with silk pillow cases and see what a huge change that creates.

Always try to blend ordinary items with a few expensive ones. A border of hand painted tiles with the main area covered with your normal tiles on the floor can add style.

Try to find old items that add originality and elegance to your home. Even if you can't find any in your attic, try visiting some neighboring garage sales or shops in the market that sell unique yet beautiful items that can give glamour to your home and less strain to your pocket.
