A. A Mommy Makeover is really quite unique! What I love about this patient dilemma is that every patient who comes to me is unique. Together, we become partners in achieving HER goal, which is usually to restore the shape that she had prior to childbirth, or to help counter the effects of aging that we all experience. It usually involves the areas that most women feel have changed due to the body altering process of pregnancy and nursing. I review the patients expectations, medical history and available safe and effective procedures that would reliably achieve the restorative changes they desire. The patient and I strategize based on her budget, how much time she has to devote to recovery based on her family and work demands, and what she feels is her priority. I don’t believe in doing unnecessary surgery and want my patients to do only what is going to give them a safe, reliable and beautiful restorative outcome!
Q. Who is a good candidate for Mommy Makeover?
A. A good candidate is a physically and emotionally healthy mom who has appropriate expectations and has a healthy lifestyle. This typically includes patients who exercise regularly, are within 20% of their desired weight, are motivated to maintain their new shape through a healthy lifestyle which includes good nutrition, continued exercise, and who have realistic expectations. The person who wants to look like herself, only improved, or better, or merely restore a part of her body is a much better candidate than one who is trying to transform herself into a different looking person.
