1. Sixaxis
The SIXAXIS was the official controller for the PS3 when it was released. It's a wireless controller, and was available for purchase when it was released. However, now the Sixaxis controller is being phased out, as the DualShock 3 has been announced as the official controller for the PS3. Production of the Sixaxis has been stopped, and is currently available in very very few places.
2. DualShock 3
The DualShock 3 had been announced as the official controller for the PS3, and retains most of the functionality of the Sixaxis controller, but has the vibration facility in addition. It was released in April, early this year.
3. PlayStation Eye
This is a digital camera developed for the PS3, and is the successor to the EyeToy, which was released for the PS2. It also has a microphone, which enables you to capture videos, pictures and sound and transfer them to games which support the use of the PlayStation Eye. Out of the game released in 2008, Burnout Paradise, Rainbow Six Vegas 2, High Stakes Poker and LittleBigPlanet are compatible with the PlayStation Eye.
4. PlayTV
The PlayTV allows you to record and store television programs onto the PS3 hard disk for later viewing. It was announced last year, and is set for release on the 19th of September in the UK. It's highly unlikely that it will come to the US as we use the ATSC digital standard, which brings about compatibility issues.
5. BD Remote
The BD Remote allows you to control Blu-Ray Discs and DVDs via Bluetooth. It uses the normal set of AA batteries, and doesn't have to be pointed at the PS3 when using it, very much like the traditional Infra - Red remotes.
6. Memory Card Adaptor
The PS3 Memory Card Adaptor allowed data from the PS & PS2 memory cards to be transferred to the PS3's hard disk. Initially, you couldn't transfer thesesaved games to the memory card, but a software upgrade to the PS3 allowed saved games to be transferred from the hard disk to the physical memory card.
