The Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection (popularly known by the acronym WFC) is an online service that enables multi-user online gameplay in Nintendo Wii and DS consoles that have wi-fi compatibility. Internet usage is integrated with the wi-fi connection.

MAIN FEATURES: The Nintendo Wi-Fi connection enables simultaneous online play for up to 8 players on the DS system and up to 32 players on the Wii system. Most popular features of the Wi-Fi Connection include Global Match-making, Leader-boards, Online Tournaments, and exclusive downloadable contents. More special features are enabled between gaming partners who have exchanged "Friend Codes".

WiiCONNECT24: It is another unique feature available with the Wi-Fi Connection that enables the Wii gaming unit to be connect with the Internet even when the game console is in Standby mode. Data and information can be sent and received even when no game is being played through the WiiConnect24 feature.

GAMES: At present there are over forty Wii games, ten WiiWare games, and over a hundred DS games available all over the world that are compatible with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection.

CONNECTIVITY WITH NINTENDO DS: The DS system has an inbuilt wireless adaptor that enables the DS to access wi-fi service through any compatible wireless network. Nintendo has set up several public hotspots also where the wi-fi connectivity can be accessed after logging into the Nintendo DS Browser.

CONNECTIVITY WITH NINTENDO Wii: The Wii has an inbuilt wireless adaptor. The system settings allow the user to save settings for up to 3 different wi-fi networks. The Wii does not have an inbuilt Ethernet port, but it has the option of using a USB Ethernet adaptor in the market.

NINTENDO Wi-Fi USB CONNECTOR: In case where a compatible wireless network is inaccessible, the DS and the Wii can also be connected via a USB Connector that is available as an accessory in the market.
