Family board games give the family time to bond and relax in each other's company.

Board games for knowledge

Anagramania!

This game is different from other anagram-based board games. The clues in the game actually give a suggestion or description of the solution. Players need not wait for their turn to solve a clue. Instead all players compete at the same time to find the solution. Correct answers allow you to move forward on the game board, the opposite for wrong answers. The first to reach the centre circle of the board wins the game. 2-6 players. Ages 13 and up. Junior edition also available!

Quoridor

A game that looks simple but requires deep thinking! The objective is to move forward your pawn to the opposite side of the board first. At each turn you have the option of either moving your pawn or placing a wall to obstruct other's pawns from moving ahead. The choice will not be easy. 2-4 players. Ages 6 and up.

Octiles

Eighteen octagonal tiles are used in this game. Players can move their pieces through the paths on each of the tiles in order to reach the other side. At each turn a tile will be replaced with the switch tile. To win, a player must get all his pieces across the board first. 2-4 players. Ages 8 and up.

Khet : The Laser Game

Played on a board similar to Chess, this game involves players moving their pieces that consist of a pharaoh, obelisks and pyramids. Some of the pieces will have mirrored surfaces. Players attempt to remove the opponent's pieces from play. At each turn a player must activate his laser and when the light beam hits a piece that cannot reflect the light, that piece is removed. The game is won when the opponent's pharaoh is removed from the board. 2 players. Ages 9 and up.

Othello

A fast moving game that is easy to learn but difficult to master. Players choose their color either black or white at start of play and places discs with reversible colors on the 8-by-8 game board. The winner is the player with the most number of discs of their color at the end of the game. But be careful - players can flip the discs to turn black to white and vice versa to capture the opponent's discs. 2 players. Ages 8 and up.

Blokus 3D

An extended version of the original Blokus Classic game. Each player receives 11 blocks made of 3-dimensional squares of the same color, but each is a different shape. To win the game players must place blocks on the rotating game board such that their color is the most visible from the top. 2-4 players. Ages 7 and up.

Da Vinci's Challenge

The design of the game is based on Da Vinci's Flower of Life. Players take turns to create patterns using the pieces provided. The more complex the design, the higher the points awarded. Nine different patterns are possible. Players can block their opponents from completing a design while attempting to create their own. 2-4 players. Ages 8 and up.

Summary - A large variety of board games are available that develop your analytical skills and provide many hours of challenging and fun game play.
