Improve Skills Improve Education; “Local Facility Offers Programs Beneficial For Children With Special Needs”
If your child has special needs that affect their education, you may want to try supplemental activities that involve skill improvement. Sometimes children with special needs have weaknesses in specific areas. These may be referred to by school personnel as processing disorders. Some common struggles seen in school age children may be: auditory or visual processing, attention disorders, or communication and motor skills. Activities that stimulate brain functions may help improve these weak areas and contribute to improvement for children.
For example, learning to cooperate in-group activities promotes social skills. Physical activities that focus on large muscle groups can improve balance and coordination. Additionally, instructor led activities that require focused attention can strengthen comprehension skills. Some ways to relate these areas to a learning environment are as follows: attention and comprehension skills can improve or compensate for ADD/ADHD. Balance and coordination practice can improve your child’s mobility and/or ability to participate in PE activities at school, and improved social skills can foster gains for children with autism disorders.
We have a local facility offering activities that promote the above-mentioned skills. The Little Gym (TLG) is a national company with multiple locations in the Fresno area.
They offer a variety of schedules and programs for children ages’ four months through twelve years. One of the best things about The Little Gym is their focus on child development. According to local Athletic director Sarah Hamilton of TLG, the instructors have the opportunity to work with small groups of children. Also, activities are performed in a way that each child can succeed. Their class schedules offer Kids Camp, Parent/Child Classes, and Grade School Gymnastics among others. Classes incorporate social skills with group interaction that encourage listening, comprehension, visual recognition and motor skills development.
If you want to help your child with skills development you may want to look into supplemental activities. There is an abundance of information about The Little Gym on their website. To determine costs and availability contact the location nearest you. Keeping kids involved and active has educational rewards.
