SENIOR Magazine Inc - Senior Franchise Overview

SENIOR Magazine has successfully been bringing top professionals to its targeted, local-market readers, those 50 and older with middle-to-upper level incomes, since 2003.

It is no secret that these individuals make up one of the fastest growing segments of the population. They need and welcome quality health and wellness, legal and financial, and lifestyle information.

SENIOR Magazine topics range from lifestyle and physician information to legal and financial education and senior housing options. We separate ourselves in each market by offering a publication focused on a specific issue, ensuring our advertisers have a unique avenue to market directly to a large group of potential customers while also educating them through informational articles.

SENIOR Magazine advertisers, who also contribute their educational and informative articles to the full-color pages of the premier publication, align themselves with an elite company that helps them effectively reach large numbers of potential clients—and at a very affordable cost that is much less than either direct mail or placing ads in local newspapers.

SENIOR Magazine offers its Senior Franchise owners the opportunity to be an important asset serving seniors in their local communities while working part time from home and supplementing their income with a single market or even establishing a new fulltime career by developing multiple markets.

PRIME – OUR GOVERNING VALUES
While our people are of highest importance, we feel it is essential to first communicate our governing values - the “rules” by which we choose to run our business. We build our business and our relationships according to the value system we call PRIME:

Priorities – God first, family second, job third
We believe that it is only when a person prioritizes life in this order, that one can reach his or her full potential. Respect – for self, customer & our product By honoring those with whom we come into contact on a daily basis, within and outside the organization, we become an asset to our business and the community. By showing loyalty to our brand, and providing superior customer service, we create customer loyalty for our product.

Integrity – mean what you say, follow up & follow through
We strive to communicate honestly and with purpose, being quick to admit mistakes and to proactively remedy difficult situations. We don’t promise more than we can actually deliver; instead we aim to “under-promise and over-deliver.” We take responsibility for our decisions, and are fully accountable to our colleagues and customers.

Moral – personal ethics, self-control
We strive to maintain high personal ethics and exhibit self control in all of our business and personal activities and relationships. We avoid profanity, and other talk that can have a negative impact on the people around us. We aim to maintain a positive attitude, and keep our day-to-day personal hardships to ourselves, first bearing in mind the needs of others.

Enjoy what you do and how you do it – lifestyle business
We want to enjoy our business and the wonderful lifestyle it provides. By maintaining a positive attitude, and living true to these foundational values, we are able to build a successful, vibrant company, and have fun along the way!

Interest / Skills

You do not need any publishing experience. This is a home based business that requires sales and people skills, as well as a desire to be involved in your community. As with any franchise, self motivation and confidence are a must. SENIOR Magazine offers its Senior Franchise owners the opportunity to be an important asset serving seniors in their local communities while working part time from home and supplementing income with a single market or even establishing a new fulltime career developing multiple markets. If you have the ambition to succeed, you enjoy meeting and working with top professionals in your area, want to work from home at your own pace, and you want to provide an educational and informative service to the people in your community, then the SENIOR Magazine opportunity may be the right one for you.

Selling Methods

This is a business to business opportunity which requires selling advertising to hospitals, physicians, health service and housing providers, legal and finance professionals, and local lifestyle services in your community. You take care of the sales and public relations, SENIOR Magazine will handle all ad design, editing, article layout, magazine layout, publishing and mailing to your exclusive mail list for your exclusive territory. Most markets will have 30 to 60 advertisers, and most advertisers are currently executing two year advertising contracts. The magazine is published three (3) times per year.

Start-Up Costs

Our Senior Franchise fee is $30,000. In addition fees of $6,700 are paid to us for an initial design set up fee, start-up kit and technology start-up fee. There may be additional costs for your computer, phone, insurance and other start up or living costs that you may incur from third parties in addition to the above fees paid to us. There is no office location or inventory to maintain.

Training and Sales Support

Upon joining our franchise system, new franchisees will receive comprehensive initial training in the operation of the franchise system, its product, services and methodologies. Prior to opening for business, our franchisees are trained in all of SENIOR Magazine’s brand specifics, from brand identity and culture, and sales and marketing, to everything and anything that makes our Senior Franchise business unique. They also benefit from instruction in business, technical, financial, bookkeeping and management skills. This training takes an average of three (3) days and takes place at our home office in Colorado Springs, CO. From there, a SENIOR Magazine representative will come to your location for a minimum of two (2) days for onsite training in your exclusive territory. Franchisees will also receive continual training programs and other ongoing home office and field support and assistance as needed.

For magazine territories, developing the right area of coverage and demographics for mail out is crucial! Independent business owners often think they've located the perfect area--only to discover they've overlooked a key detail that a more experienced set of eyes would have spotted. Established franchisors have been through the territory development process before, and have access to extensive databases, demographic research data, and their own years of experience.
