1. Tell us about the start of Yogen Früz business?
My brother Michael and I started Yogen Früz back in 1986 at the age of 19 and 20 to fulfill our dream of opening a successful business together, my brother Simon joined in 1989. We came to the conclusion long ago that healthy and functional alternative foods were going to eventually dominate peoples eating habits.
2. What inspired you to start this business?
We’ve seen a tremendous increased interest in nutritional and healthy foods in North America, and this waive is reflective of what’s happening in most markets around the world. With the strong disposable income that baby boomers possess, they are constantly looking for “better for you” alternative foods that will enhance their everyday lifestyle. We look forward to presenting more of our healthy frozen dessert to consumers while adding scope and depth to our franchising business in the USA and internationally. When you have had as much fun as we have developing the Yogen Früz concept, nothing is a challenge or an obstacle – it’s just an opportunity.
3. How has Yogen Früz evolved from where it started?
Today with our new assortment of proprietary Probiotic frozen yogurt and our dairy and non-dairy smoothies, Yogen Früz continues its strong tradition of market innovation and leadership. Yogen Früz’s “Better For You” program aims to continue brand presence as a healthy choice lifestyle product, for every member of the family, by providing customers with a healthy alternative to fast food that’s great tasting and nutritious, making it a great product for today’s active lifestyle.
4. What is the secret behind the success of Yogen Früz?
We offer everyday consumers a choice to enjoy a premium frozen treat or dessert. Invite a guest to join you for a healthy snack, with only about 120 calories per regular serving. Our menu board at each store displays nutritional information about Yogen Früz, such as fat and calorie content.
5. What is Yogen Früz?
Our Yogen Früz brand represents a healthy snack alternative to fast food, enjoyed in a contemporary quick service environment. Remember the fro-yo fad of the '80s and ‘90s? Well it's back, but with a tart taste and now it’s better for you. You can eat it unadorned, or add Fresh Fruit toppings like pineapple, mango, blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, bananas and kiwis, as well as dry toppings such as granola. Together with the yogurt, this selection of toppings perfectly complements the tang of the plain yogurt and tastes irresistible.

Yogen Früz is the largest franchisor of stores serving primarily frozen yogurt, with over 1,100 locations operating in more then 20 countries worldwide.

We offer a choice of thousands of unique flavors through our various combinations of fruit and non-fat low calorie yogurt.
8. Let us talk about your Franchise Opportunity?
We offer complete franchise support; including site location assistance, design and construction assistance,operations training and local marketing support. We have built our franchising system on the basis of sellingfranchises to owner operator. We stress customer service and product quality, and we believe that this can be bestdelivered to the customer through an owner-operator who is effectively at the location all of the time. Buying afranchise means they don’t have to start from scratch. They get to work with an established brand name and theyobtain the right to sell its products and services. 10. In your opinion what is the greatest thing about Yogen Früz?
The greatest thing about Yogen Früz is our better for you product offering. With the growing focus on obesity, health and our food choices, many groups are insisting that caloric and fat content be included on all menus. We strongly agree with this direction and disclosure to our customers, as can be seen on our new menu boards where we proudly display the calories and fat content right on our menu panels. As consumers continue to get educated they will demand this same transparent practice from all the chains. As far as I know, Yogen Früz is currently the first and only chain, providing this open practice. When you have a great tasting product with great health attributes you have nothing to hide.
