1. Would you describe the Kinderdance program as an ongoing programfor self development?

YES

2. How did Kinderdance Start?

Kinderdance® is one of the largest and fastest growing movement education providers in the world.  As a major force in the lives of millions of children, our special challenge is supporting individual franchisees that can bring the power of Kinderdance® to their community and find success, one child at a time.

The United States, with a renewed focus on education and movement, has seen a growing interest in supplemental programs.  Parents sense an increased urgency to provide extra academic and cognitive support as well as enhanced skills to ensure their children’s success.  In this marketplace, the opening of a new Kinderdance location is most welcome in any community.

“KINDERDANCE ®” Not just a business, but a purpose.

Becoming an educational movement franchisee is not just about profitability, it’s about passion and inspiration.  Whenever we want to be inspired, we look no further than our founder, Carol Kay Harsell.  Carol Kay Harsell, born and raised in Linden New Jersey, started dancing at the age of three and has been involved with dance and early childhood education ever since.  She always had three major loves: education, dance and business, which motivated her to attend and graduate from Dance Educators of America, New Your City Teacher Training School.  She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Dance, and a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Adapted Physical Education and Dance.

Ms. Harsell is a published author and has conducted research in early childhood education and communication through dance. She established the American Academy of Dance, Inc. in Scottsdale, Arizona. She has an extensive background in dance instruction, having taught people of all ages, levels and physical abilities in ballet, tap, acrobatics, jazz and creative movement. She has also conducted dance and movement therapy workshops at local, state, national, and international conferences and has worked as a consultant to many Universities, YMCAs, Private and Public School Systems, Hospitals, and for the National Committee on Arts for the Handicapped.

As a performer she appeared with the New York City and New Jersey State Ballet Companies, and has performed and choreographed numerous solo and group concerts. She not only is a talented dancer/choreographer, but also won a scholarship for voice to the Master Works Chorus in New Jersey.  Ms. Harsell has combined her talents in dance and voice to write original music and songs for the Kinderdance® programs.

Since 1979 she has been solely devoted to developing curriculums and educating preschoolers through dance and training Kinderdance® Teachers and Franchisees in the Kinderdance® teaching methods and procedures which are successfully being taught to thousands of young children throughout the United States, Canada, Singapore, Australia, and the Bahamas and Hong Kong.

Combining her dedication and experience with the marketing and business background of co-founder Bernie Friedman, Kinderdance was born, rooted in the belief that every child possesses unlimited potential and the innate desire and capacity to learn.  Once spared the anxiety of keeping up with others, every child can not only excel but gain a love for learning while maintaining a healthy body.

Since its inception, more than 3 million students have enjoyed the Kinderdance experience and developed the self-confidence needed to succeed in life.  Kinderdance® continues to improve and expand its comprehensive programs so more students can realize their potential.

While never losing sight of Kinderdance’s purpose, it’s important to stress that Kinderdance® is very smart business.  The costs to start up and operate a Kinderdance franchise are surprisingly modest.  The range of your initial investment can vary from as low as $12,000 to $20,000 or $30,000 to as high as $40,000 as an “area developer.”  There is no extra charge for the initial six day training at our training center in Melbourne, Florida including hotel accommodations.  Since Kinderdance is a home based opportunity, there is very little need for additional start-up capital.

You do not need a dance background in order to succeed as a Kinderdance® Franchisee.  The primary requirements are a love of children, high energy, and a desire to succeed.  In our experience, successful Kinderdance franchisees have been led by retired teachers, mothers with grown children who love volunteering in their community, and entrepreneurs who want to mix local civic-spirited activities with building a business.
