Q. What is tooth whitening?


A. Tooth whitening is cosmetic procedure done to whiten and brighten the existing shade of teeth.

Q. Who may benefit from teeth whitening?


A. Anyone who wishes to have a brighter smile and look younger.

Q. Who are not recommended to undergo teeth whitening?

A. Patients who have periodontal disease or have a lot of cavities. Once these are treated most patients can get the whitening.

Q. What does tooth whitening involve?

A. It involves applying a whitening agent to the teeth.

Q. How long does this take?

A. It depends on the type of whitening being done. In office whitening like Zoom and Britesmile takes about an hour. Take home whitening like crest white strips and trays can take up to two weeks.

Q. How much does tooth whitening cost?

A. It can cost anywhere from $70 for the crest white strips up to $600 for the Zoom.

Q. What are the side effects?

A. Patients can experience sensitivity. For this I recommend using a special prescription tooth paste starting a week before the whitening and during the whitening process.
