So I wanted to know if anyone actually gets legit prospects from sites that "blast" emails or enzines? I have received quite a few emails about these and I was just wondering if anyone has had any success with them.

I have tried to work with "free advertising" that does just that, blasts you with emails. They send you everyone elses ads for whatever topic it is you need advertised but I never really saw a return (except the difficulty of unsubscribing to those other ads). I would be very cautious. Best advertising is word of mouth, business cards, and fliers. Business cards can be cheap if you find the paper and make them yourself, fliers can be done on reg computer paper and posted where ever you are allowed. I have been placing my site in web directories, sticking to free networks such as myspace, facebook, and finding good forums to add business information. Ezine sites are great for writing articles about things you know about and then having your product or service in the article directed back to your site. Make sure you sign all emails (even personal ones if you wish) with you site signature. Patience is key too! Doesn't happen over night but if you have a great product or service it doesn't take long to take off.

Christina I have not done any advertising along these lines and if all I get in return is email in my mailbox then I don't think I will.

On the subject of business cards and other advertising or marketing materials you can try VistaPrint. They are very good and you can get almost everything free. Seriously, I know they have not made any money on me. I have gotten two boxes of business cards, a couple hundred postcards, magnets, and all sorts of things for nothing.

I think everything MIC6470 said is true. Networking and referrals are the best way to get customers, however you will need to get out there and meet more people in order to expand.

Yeah no we my team definitley relies only on word of mouth that's how the company became so successful. I was just curious because I keep getting emails advertising enzines and I never really understood what they were. And yes I have already received my second box of business cards from Vistaprint and I really like them!

Christina I was trying to remember everything I have gotten from VistaPrint. Last summer I ordered a T-Shirt and a baseball hat. They both are fantastic. If it wasn't winter I would order a few different designs for shirts. I wish they would do heavy sweatshirts. I live in them in this weather.
