| Well, there are a whole load of health issues which are related to the consumption of some liquids. Some liquids don't harm you too much, while others do.
Soft drinks could possibly cause the following problems:
Obesity
A research conducted by Harvard concluded that the consumption of soft drinks could be attributed to the increase in the number of obese children in the US two fold within the last 15 years. These sugared drinks caused the insulin level of adolescents to increase, which meant that they craved more.
Sleep Patterns
A particular report had stated that the consumption of soft drinks which contained caffeine disturbed sleeping patterns in children and caused tiredness during the day.
Diabetes
An 8 year study concluded in 2004 showed that people who drank more than one soft drink per day were more than 80% likely to develop diabetes than those who didn't. This research did not take into account the individual lifestyles of the test subjects.
Moreover, people who consumed a lot of caffeine, generally by way of coffee (and, in some part, through soft drinks) tended to also experience a number of issues.
Caffeinism
When caffeine is consumed in large amounts for a long period of time, caffeinism is said to come about. In addition to a dependency on caffeine, you'll also be experiencing things like nervousness, insomnia, irritation and headaches.
Parkinson's Disease
A large number of big studies have come to the conclusion that consuming caffeine can lower the risk of men developing the Parkinson's disease, though the test on women have returned inconclusive.
Learning and Memory
A number of studies have shown that caffeine could possibly have a deteriorating effect on your memory and learning, though this has been contradicted with other studies. Therefore, tests have remained largely inconsistent and inconclusive.
Pregnancy
The Food Standards Agency has put up the recommendation that, if you're pregnant, you shouldn't have more than 300gm of caffeine a day - that's equivalent to 4 cups of coffee a day. By consuming more caffeine than the recommended amount, you may be taking a risk of experiencing a miscarriage.
Anxiety and sleep disorders
These are two disorders which are not diagnosed and treated, and which are induced by caffeine consumption. In the case of sleep disorder, people generally intake caffeine enough to cause disturbances in sleeping patterns, and are serious matters that need attention from a doctor.
As far as anxiety disorders are concerned, this too may need clinical attention if large amounts of caffeine is consumed. The effects of the anxiety disorder include panic attacks, obsessive - compulsive symptoms or even phobic symptoms!
