Food and health

Food is one of the most vital things that any human being would need to survive. The body of any animal is built in such away that it cannot survive without food or water. Food is required to strengthen the body, to repair wasted parts and to fight against diseases.

Not all foods are as healthy as the others. But most foods contain something that is important for the human body. Some basic things that the human body gets off food are carbohydrates, fat, proteins, vitamins and minerals. Not all foods have all these nutrients. Some foods have a mix of fat and carbohydrates, some have proteins and then some have vitamins and minerals. Different foods have different types of these nutrients and they are contained in different amounts and percentages. It is up to the individual to make sure that he/she chooses the good from the 'not so good.'

Let us take some good food which provides a good balanced amount of nutrients. Vegetables provide a great amount of vitamins, mineral, carbohydrates and even proteins. All the nutrients are not found in a single vegetable but a mix of vegetable will provide the necessary amount of nutrients. Grains provide a major amount of proteins, carbohydrates and sugar. Meat provides fats and proteins. Fruits provide a large amount of vitamins and minerals. Dairy products provide a large amount of fat, vitamins, minerals and proteins. All these foods can be combined in order to create a fully balanced meal.

Today there are many types of foods. Some foods which have become very famous in the fast moving world are called fast foods. These fast foods are very easy to make and easy to eat and let us face it, tastes pretty good. But the fact is not all fast foods are healthy. In fact studies have shown that most people are becoming less healthy and less tolerant against diseases because of fast foods. The reason is that they simply do not provide the required amount of nutrients for the body.

So as you can see simple and easy is not always good. Some times making your own home food is much better in the long run than taking the easy way out. If you are not sure about your health condition and have no clue as to what type of food you should eat then always consult a doctor. He/she will tell you exactly the type of diet you need.

Just eating for the sake of eating is not healthy. Eating because you have to eat is also not the answer. Knowing what you need and then eating accordingly is the best way to stay fit and healthy. Food is a source of nourishment and has a revitalizing effect on a body. So always remember to eat wise in order to live well.
