A research published by the Journal of the American Pharmacists Association identified that caffeine and sugar, which are present in all energy drinks, could cause a wide variety of ill effects to your body.

The energy drinks taken into consideration had natural products like ginseng and guarana. The researched energy drinks included Red Bull, Pimp Juice, Cocaine and Spike Shooter and the research identified that each of these had somewhere around 80 - 300 mg of caffeine and nearly 35 grams of processed sugar for every 8 ounces of drink.

According to the research 4 caffeine related deaths and 4 other cases of fits had occurred due to the consumption of energy drinks.

The researchers came to the conclusion that the level of guarana, taurine and ginseng which were included in the energy drinks were not so much as to give any benefits or to induce any bad effects, but the level of caffeine and sugar in the drinks could put your health at risk in a number of ways.

Caffeine is a bitter xanthine alkaloid which performs the function of a psychoactive stimulant drug and can cause a number of urinary problems in people.

Energy drinks are not the only drinks which use caffeine. Caffeine can also be found in other beverages and drinks like tea, coffee and other non - alcoholic drinks.

The down-side of caffeine contained in energy drinks is that the amount varies from brand to brand, and can vary from a mere 50mg to about 505mg in each bottle, according to a research conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

By digesting too much caffeine, regardless of how you acquire it, you can be host to a number of health problems which can be life - threatening, yet people are not aware of it.
