Bizymoms Ocala, Florida
Ocala , Fl. is a big town with a small town feel and was recently voted the all American City in the United States, making it a wonderful place to start a family. You never have to look far to find a perfect quaint suburb, just like in the movies! We are home to a huge population of snowbirds, so our numbers swell this time of year. Yet, you can go out every night to eat on what we fondly call our “Restaurant Row” on State Road 200.
Ocala is centrally located so driving to Orlando, and other large cities, takes an average of under 2 hours. A new mall is being built with a target completion date of early next spring, and we just keep growing! Marion County itself is a sprawling county that covers a few thousand miles, including most of the Ocala National Forest. The people are friendly, the year round temperatures are wonderful, and jobs are plentiful. For all of the growth, we still see people we know everywhere we go. That is the great thing about Ocala; the BIG sleepy little suburb with people who know each other, in a close-knit community. Come for a visit and you will see why so many call this city home.
My family moved to Ocala, Florida in 1996 after one of the worst winters in Iowa that we had experienced in many years. We originally chose Ocala because it was rated number 14 in the Best Places to Live Almanac. Ocala was a welcome sight having experienced numerous snowstorms that covered us in ice, sleet and snow. It has been the best decision we ever made and none of us have ever regretted living here.
My children are now 16, & 17 years old attending local high schools - Paige is a senior, Devin is a junior. Both have plans to attend college, both work part-time and are a true joy in my life. My husband of 20 years is in Sales, and after 25 years of being employed outside the home, I have recently become a stay at home mom who dabbles in Ebay (3018pam); but I also run errands, perform visits, shop, & more for senior citizens. Help for those in our senior community that have no one to help is a cause close to my heart. At some time in the near future, my plans are to write a book. (Don’t all of us women want to do this?!)
