Steve Davey Profile
Steve Davey is a photographer and writer, based in London. Blessed and cursed in equal measure with a low boredom threshold, he has turned travel photography into a way of life, as well as a career.
Steve first got hooked on photography at school. The mix of creativity and technicality seemed to suit his personality and he realized that photography could make a good lifestyle: leaving school during the day was forbidden but, if he was stopped with a camera, he could just say that he was off to take some photos. He has used this excuse ever since and, remarkably, people still believe it.
Steve is the author and principal photographer of Unforgettable Places to See Before You Die and Unforgettable Islands to Escape To Before You Die, both published by BBC Books. Between them, these titles have been published in over 26 language editions.
Steve’s latest book is Footprint Travel Photography (Footprint Handbooks 2009). In 320 pages, and with countless color pictures, this books tells you everything that you could ever need to know about Travel Photography. It includes extensive sections on preparation, technical aspects of photography, practical tips for various picture taking scenarios and even sections on digital post-processing and working professionally. The book has a dedicated website, which has further information, updates and even a facility where you can ask the author questions and even submit pictures for comment and help.
