Shirley Price Profile
Shirley Price was born and raised in the UK. In 1982 Shirley and her family left the UK to immigrate to Canada. She now lives in Vancouver, British Columbia. She is a mother of two daughters and a son. She is also a grandmother of 4. Shirley has a very close relationship with her children and the other members of her family.
Shirley has had numerous interests which has lead to her having a variety of careers. She loves to have interaction with people so she has always made sure that she has worked directly with people.
One thing that she has learnt about herself is that she needs challenge, change and flexibility in a career. For her going to the same place everyday doing the same thing would without a doubt not work for her.
After moving to Canada, Shirley spent a number of years in Real Estate sales which offered her all the aspects that she wanted in a career but this wasn’t enough; she felt there was more. Around 1996 she discovered NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) she was so interested in it that she went back to being a student and earned her NLP Master Practitioner certification. It was during this time she was introduced to and trained in Solution Focused Counselling. She also began studying Life Coaching which she found has been beneficial to her and helped so many others make change in their life. Shirley also got her certification in EMDR and a degree in Health and Human Services.
Shirley worked in her community mostly with parents and children for over 10 years and continues to support a couple of groups with moms, caregivers, infants and toddlers. She also teaches dads and their kids songs and rhymes at a Daddy and Me Group.
Shirley has also developed and presented lifestyle workshops. One of the workshops is related to planning ahead for retirement focused on lifestyles in retirement. It was geared to those in the workforce that would be retiring within 5 years.
She has experience with many issues that moms go through, from starting a business, bringing up a family, separation, divorce, and changing careers. Sadly, even the loss of a child in the family after her grandson passed away very suddenly. Shirley has always been interested in bringing people together believing that everyone needs to have social connection.
Shirley is the publisher of a Social website for the over 50s www.LifeByDesignOver50.com
