Patrick Moser Profile Patrick Moser holds a Ph.D. in French literature and is Associate Professor of Languages at Drury University (in Springfield, Missouri) where he teaches French, Global Studies, and a course on the history and culture of surfing. He grew up in California and surfs himself whenever he gets near a coastline and can borrow a board. He’s married and has two beautiful boys who also love to paddle out when they get the chance. Patrick’s most recent publications on surfing include Pacific Passages: An Anthology of Surf Writing (University of Hawai’i Press, 2008) and Surfer’s Code: 12 Simple Lessons for Riding Through Life (Gibbs Smith, 2006). This latter book was a collaboration with South African world surfing champion Shaun Tomson. Patrick also holds an MFA in fiction writing from the University of Arizona and has published articles in The Surfer’s Journal, Surfer, and Surf Life for Women. He is currently working on a book of essays exploring the origins of the rites and rituals in surf culture.
