Maggie Daniels - Expert in Wedding and Event Planning Dr. Maggie Daniels is an Associate Professor of Tourism and Events Management at George Mason University and owner of Maggie’s Wedding and Event Design. Maggie developed and implemented a groundbreaking wedding consulting class, leading to her being named one of Modern Bride magazine’s 25 Trendsetters of 2008 along with Bobbi Brown, Oscar de la Renta, Tiffany & Co. and other top wedding experts. Maggie’s award-winning book on the subject, entitled Wedding Planning and Management: Consultancy for Diverse Clients, is written with consultant Carrie Loveless and features over 150 full-color images by award-winning wedding photojournalist Rodney Bailey.
Just a few of the media outlets that have featured Maggie’s wedding expertise include ABC Nightline News, United Press International, Fox 45 News, Washington Post, the Houston Chronicle, as well as publications in the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria. Maggie is a talented speaker and has given presentations at local, regional, national and international gatherings to groups both large and small.
Maggie partners with agencies in the Washington DC metropolitan area to assist them with event and tourism implementation and evaluation. She is a prolific researcher and has a combination of over fifty published papers, book chapters, professional presentations and technical reports to her credit. Maggie has completed projects with the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum and is currently working on a series of collaborative studies with the National Park Service regarding the National Mall & Memorial Parks Management Plan.
While Maggie’s work is truly rewarding, her greatest joy comes from spending time with her son, Joshua, who was born in April of 2007. Maggie and her husband, Matt, delight in every stage of Josh’s development. Maggie’s articles and blogs for Bizymoms focus on wedding and event planning with a healthy dose of “reality checks” for balancing work, family and community.
