Generating Income from Advertisers on your Website You created your website to bring attention to your business or cause, but the traffic that you are driving to your site can also benefit other companies. This is a perfect opportunity to capitalize on your site visitors by creating advertising opportunities for companies with a similar target market.
The best way to attract and entice companies to spend their advertising dollars with you is to prepare a professional one sheet proposal that includes some of the following information:
- The amount of unique visitors you receive each month to your website
- The number of page visits and length of time visitors spend on your site
- The size of the button ads and banners and the respective costs
- Be specific as to where their advertising button would be placed on your site. Also, indicate if the button will be on each page of your site or one specific page. If the ad will only run on one page, you should include the number of visitors to that specific page.
- Include the length of time for the advertising subscriptions will run – 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, etc. Entice them to sign for longer durations by reducing the cost per month for longer terms and/or throwing in additional button placements.
- Will their paid advertising also include any other visibility opportunities such as a presence on a monthly newsletter and the open rate of the newsletter?
- Describe the demographics of your site and how they fit your potential advertisers target market (you should do your homework on the company prior to submitting your proposal)
- Convince them that this is THE place to showcase their company by listing other companies that have placed their ads on your site. To get the ball rolling, you may need to provide a large discount or free placement to a major company. This will demonstrate that you are able to attract high caliber advertisers.
Companies are continually looking for new ways to get as much exposure for their dollar. Your presentation should be geared toward appealing to the advertiser by describing how they will benefit from advertising on your site. It is also important to continue your work to drive traffic to your site so they will want to renew their advertising subscription.
