Laureen Wishom, Ph.D. has served as the Chief Solutionary Officer of Masterpiece Solutions, LLC for more than ten years. As the Chief Solutionary Officer, she oversees the restructuring of small- and mid-sized businesses and non-profit entities and specializes in strategic planning, best practices initiatives, contract compliance, developing processes/systems and financial management. Her extensive business start-up, development and turnaround experience has positioned her as the “consultant of choice” in the career success and business growth arena. She has over fifteen years experience in systems analysis, information technology, grant writing and fundraising.
Over the past ten years, she has served on numerous boards and has structured nomination committee’s policies and procedures for non-profits. She is a sought-after board retreat and strategic planning workshop presenter/facilitator. Currently, she is an Advisory Board Member of Houston’s Small Business Administration; Ensemble Theater Board of Director member; and was appointed to the National 2008 Board of Distinguished Judges & Advisors of the Stevie Awards for Women in Business.
During her twenty years tenure in corporate America, she was employed by such notable companies as Brown and Root, Natural Gas Pipeline, Enron Corporation, Vastar Resources, Valic-American General, St. Luke’s Hospital and Drake Beam Morin. Her professional experience includes such positions as information technology project manager, senior systems analyst, training coordinator and outplacement consultant. In the non-profit arena, she held such positions as executive director, compliance officer and human services director.
Dr. Laureen is the recipient of the 2008 Top 25 Influential Women of Houston Spirit of Business Award (Rolling Out Magazine), the 2008 YMCA Greater Houston Minority Achievers Award, the 2007 Business Achievement Pinnacle Finalist Award (Houston Citizens Chamber of Commerce) and the National 2007 Stevie© Award (Mentor of the Year).
Dr. Laureen holds a Ph.D. in Psychology/Christian Counseling, a Master’s degree in Psychology, and a Bachelor’s degree in General Education. She received a Board Governance and Leadership Certification from Project Blueprint and a Productivity Education Certification from the Academy of Human Potential.
She was recently featured in the Houston Chronicle, the Houston Business Journal and on Fox News for her independent study of “Women on Corporate Boards” in Houston and Dallas.
Her business articles have been published in numerous media outlets (E-zine Expert Author). She is the author of a series of “How To” books on writing grant proposals, business plans, networking effectively and obtaining government contracts.
She is the founder and principal facilitator of the High-Achieving Women’s Roundtable where she instructs women on how to listen well, communicate better, market strategically, lead effectively and develop business relationships high-end. She is also the publisher of The Greater Houston Resource Guide© designed to connect people, resources and services. In tandem with her writing commitments, she is a sought-after speaker, panelist and workshop presenter.
