A Happy, Healthy and Fit workplace You sit at your desk sniffling, reach for a Kleenex, your head is pounding and your body aches all over. You are getting sick, UGH! You really do not need this sickness right now. You are too busy at work and home. Lately, you have noticed your normal healthy self has reoccurring sickness theme. Why? Germs float everywhere around the workplace, exercise takes a backseat, the mindset is worn out, and unhealthy eating habits wear you down. How can you rebound and stay healthy and fit? By putting four easy aspects into your daily schedule….positive mindset, germ free workplace, exercise, and eat healthy snacks and lunches.
A positive mind and outlook can give you powerful willpower to tackle any obstacle that comes in your way. Many times moms, after working a full day, head home for a busy night: cooking dinner, overlooking kids’ homework, washing clothes, etc., feel extremely overwhelmed when they hit the bed. Moms need to unwind, before going to bed, giving them an opportunity to recharge and rejuvenate themselves; even if the unwinding is a five-minute shower. When a working mom unwinds, in the evening, she has a more restful sleep and awakes with her mind being more functionally positive which leads to a more productive day.
In addition to getting a good night’s sleep, instill positive thoughts and actions in your daily work schedule. Positive inspiration comes in many different forms, looking at picture of your family, a motivating quote, religious verse, smelling flowers, an inspirational book, etc. I recommend surrounding yourself with motivational and inspirational thoughts, in your vehicle, at your desk, in your bathroom, on the home fridge, tec. When you feel positive and optimistic your whole being transcends into a healthy persona, which keeps your mind sharp and brings wellness to your whole body.
Working in an office to working at home, germs are everywhere; the second step is a germ free workplace. Germs do not intentionally make you sick but the abundance of them improves your chances of becoming sick. How can you prevent sickness? Start with yourself being healthy. If you are sick, do not make everyone else sick at work. Stay home recuperated so you are an asset to yourself and your employer. Sanitize your office, bring in a disinfectant spray and lightly sanitize everything; do this about once a month. Also keep hand sanitizer in your desk; this will prevent the spreading of germs. Finally, if you can avoid eating at your desk, eat in the lunch or break room, this will prevent the spreading of germs. These are a few ways to keep yourself healthy, your clients happy and your boss happy.
The third aspect is exercising at work. Yes, you heard me right; you can exercise at work that does not build up perspiration. In the morning, if you can wake up 30 minutes earlier, you can complete a quick and powerful workout whether that is a power walk or run, using the treadmill, aerobics, WII fit, etc. This exercise will motivate you and make you a much better worker. You can also workout at the office. When you stay physically healthy, your mindset stays positive and you build your immune system.
The fourth and final aspect to a healthy and fit workplace is investing in healthy snacks and lunches while you work. It is too easy to grab unhealthy snacks from the vending machine or, if you work at home, going to the refrigerator and grabbing empty calorie snacks. Preplan your meals and snacks that taste good, give your energy and benefit your body. A couple of year ago, I came across tips to eating well at work. I do not remember where I picked it up from but these hints are great.
When you incorporate these four healthy and fit aspects to your work life, you will see yourself much healthier, with a positive and optimistic outlook, fit and lean. You will love the sunny and optimistic disposition it gives you and what it reflects to others. Don’t’ you deserve to be happy, healthy and fit today and every day!
