George M. Akerley Profile George M. Akerley is a Mortgage Loan Officer, currently employed by Prospect Mortgage, located in Bloomfield, Connecticut. George specializes in providing home loans to a diverse clientele, coaching and cajoling, educating and enlightening those whose desire it is to own a home.
His experience is extensive, dating back to his initial job in the banking industry in 1969. George’s previous positions in the financial realm include being a Consumer Loan Officer, an Assistant Vice President/Lending – both in banking institutions, Lending Manager in a federal credit union, followed by more than 10 years as a mortgage underwriter for one of the major mortgage insurance companies. He switched to the origination of home loans a few years ago, and he loves being back in front of the public, helping people achieve their dreams.
In addition to his lending expertise, George is an accomplished poet, writer and editor and he is very active in his community. With two grown sons, two grandchildren and a young son at home, he (and his wife) is kept very busy, but never too busy to help someone with a need. His outside activities include being Vice President of the Board of Directors of Cathedral Housing, a senior citizen housing facility; Deacon at The First Cathedral in Bloomfield, CT; member of the Board of Directors of Blue Hills Civic Association, in Hartford, CT.
