Only when you know your body type can you find the right foods to create health and balance at your best weight.
What exactly is a “body type?” It is a type of metabolism, a shorthand way of describing the way your body metabolizes food. There are four body types in women and three in men, based on which of the body’s four major glands tends to dominate your metabolism. The four major glands are the thyroid gland, the adrenal glands, the pituitary gland and the gonads or sex glands, which are the ovaries in women. So women can be Thyroid Types, Adrenal Types, Pituitary Types or Gonadal Types. Men can be Thyroid Types, Adrenal Types or Pituitary Types. In men, the gonads (testes) work together with the adrenal glands, so there is not a separate Gonadal Type in men.
It’s easy to to find your body type. You take a checklist which asks you about things like your body’s shape, your food cravings and your energy level, because all these things are really determined by your body type. You can take the checklist in our book, Dr. Abravanel’s Body Type Diet, or at our web site,www.bodytypes.com. Once you know your body type, it’s possible for you to eat right for your own type of metabolism, and become healthy and balanced at your best weight.
