Don Silcock - Expert in Underwater Photography and Scuba Diving
Don Silcock was born in Liverpool and lived in the north-west of England until he was 21 when his “travel bug” bit and he began his first career in the oil & gas industry. That career spanned 21 years, beginning in the UK and ending in Australia, with 14 years in between spent in the Middle East.
His second career began 14 years ago when he moved into sales with the Australian subsidiary of a major US corporation. His role has taken him all over Asia and for the last 12 months he has been based in Shanghai, China on a special assignment he describes as equally intriguing & challenging!
Married to Liz for 27 years and with two grown-up children, Don has been scuba diving for over 30 years and is a BSAC Advanced Instructor & PADI Divemaster, although these days he dives to take photographs and write articles on the exotic locations he has visited.
Don concentrates on the Indo-Pacific region and specifically Indonesia and Papua New Guinea, widely regarded as home to some of the best diving in the world. Don’s articles & images have been published in SportDiving, X-Ray, Underwater Photography, Nuigini Blue, Diver and Action Asia and he uses the articles to populate his website.
