David Michael Slater - Expert Writer David Michael Slater was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1970. He was a Psychology major at the University of Michigan, then went on to receive a Master’s in English from Carnegie-Mellon University and a Masters in Teaching from Lewis & Clark College. Since 1995, David has taught 7th grade Language Arts at a middle school outside of Portland, Oregon, where he lives with his wife and son.
David’s writing career began with the production of his one act play, GODS & CATS, at the Buckham Alley Theater in Flint, Michigan, just after he completed his undergraduate degree. While student teaching in Oregon, David published a number of short stories in literary magazines, then his first picture book, CHEESE LOUISE, in 2000.
Since then, David has published eight more picture books, with seven forthcoming in ’08/’09. 2008 will also see the publication of two books for adults, SELFLESS (a novel) and THE BOOK OF LETTERS (short stories), as well as the launch of his young adult series, Sacred Books, with Volume 1, THE BOOK OF NONSENSE. The five-part series is complete and scheduled for publication through 2012.
Finally, David has a screenplay, MOCHA COLA HIGH, in development with Right Angle Pictures.
