There is more to the 4th of July than what is discussed outside of the obvious reasons for the celebration. Obviously, we all love the cookouts, parades, fireworks, marching bands and family vacations. Obviously, we honor those who stood on the battle field and fought for our freedoms. But what exactly do some of those freedoms consist of that we take for granted everyday? The Bill of Rights The Bill of Rights allows us to attend and/or practice any type of religion that we choose. We have the right to free press, free assembly and association, as well as, the right to petition our own government if we so choose. We have the right to bear arms and in a lot of states we can bear them on our person and walk around in a community if we so choose. That is a lot of fabulous freedoms. Everyday Freedoms We have the freedom to shop, eat, walk, drive, fly and visit any state in this great nation that we so choose without having to worry about borders, passports and militia. We can live next door to foreigner and shake his hand. We can watch our favorite television show any time we so choose and we all know there are literally hundreds of channels out there to choose from. In many opinions there is no better place to be on this planet than the United States of America. This is a great place to live, learn, grow and have as much self expression and opportunity in all of the world. With the current state of the economy and the existence of war this is still a great land to call home. Happy 4th of July America!
