PRIORITISE your Success: P is for Planning.

What would you do if you had a plan that enabled you to live the life you wanted to live and have the success in your career and business that you want?

If you knew this plan was going to help you create the results you want, wouldn’t you create it?

Of course you would..keep reading to find out how to get started!

There are 2 pieces of information you need to start making your plan:

Where are you now in terms of the results you want to produce?
Where do you want to get to?
So you know where you are and where you want to go. Now all you need is a plan to lay out the practical steps to get you there, Easy Right?

I believe everything should be planned because it is only when you know what is ahead that you can really start getting the results you want and deserve!

There is a law in Physics called the second law of Thermodynamics which states that entropy or chaos (the opposite of growth) increases over time. I’m sure you have witnessed this at some stage be it in life, in your career, in business, or in the environment you currently find yourself in.

The important thing to remember about this law is that it only applies to closed systems. That means anything that is unable to obtain help from an external source in order to grow or evolve.

To put this in perspective this basically means that if you don’t have the results you want and you don’t give yourself the opportunity to evolve and grow then things will continue to get worse instead of better.

Of course this is not what we want and the great news is that you only need two things to grow:

1.Energy.
2.Structure.
Energy is basically fuel, or anything you can absorb from an external source allowing you to grow.

Right now I want to concentrate on structure or Planning.

Planning is essential in order for you to obtain your desired results. For example when you want to go on holidays you plan the main elements of it like booking your flights and accommodation, perhaps transport to your end destination and some activities to do while you are there. You know by doing this you will get the results you want from your break away.

There are 5 main steps to consider when planning:

1.Plan long term not short term. I would suggest planning for the year ahead. Start out with an idea of what you would like to do over the next 12 months to enable you to get your desired results.
- Create a 12 month calendar September 2010 to September 2011.
- Mark off your holidays and rest time.
- Mark off the courses or education seminars you are planning to attend.
- Mark off the important events you need to remember over the upcoming year.

2.Then look at the next three months ahead. You should have a good idea at this stage of what that will look like in more detail, but what I want you to focus on here is cash flow. Make a note of exactly how much you plan on earning each week. This is especially important for business owners who work on a time for money model as they need to know exactly how much is coming in each week and more importantly when it drops so they can ensure they plan something for that week.

3.Next look at the month ahead, and break it down into what happens on each day. By ensuring you plan for what will happen each day during the month ahead, you should be able to see from looking at this overview if your time is balanced correctly between work and lifestyle. If it’s not then this is the time to make some changes.

4.Now we get to how you would spend your time during a normal week. For this step you should make 2 lists of all activities you complete during the week:
- What am I currently doing?
- What am I not doing?
If you are not getting the results you want on a week by week basis then it will become evident why during this exercise.
When you have your two lists you should easily be able to:
- group activities that can be done at the same time.
- Notice any activities that can be delegated
- create a weekly time schedule to enable you to complete all your desired tasks on a weekly basis, hence helping you to produce the results you want.

5.The last and the most important step is re-visit and update your plan regularly. This is a living document and it will change as you grow and evolve, and by keeping an eye on what’s ahead you have a better chance of obtaining your desired results!

I wish you the time and the patience to create your plan in order to Prioritise Your Success,
