When you’re trying to conceive, there is nothing more difficult than watching all of your friends and family members get pregnant after just a month or two of trying. If you’ve been trying to get pregnant for a while, these success stories may help you on your journey towards pregnancy. Conceiving isn’t easy for some people, but there is always hope, as you’ll see in these stories. Amanda’s Surprising Solution to Conception Amanda, who is now forty, already had one baby when she decided to try to get pregnant with her second. At the time, she was thirty-nine and knew she didn’t have a lot of time to make it happen. After a year of trying unsuccessfully to get pregnant, she got online to find solutions, thinking anything she could do would be better than just waiting around! Well, she landed on the good old Robitussin solution, hearing that it could help thin out cervical mucous to help sperm get to where they needed to go. When she read this, Amanda remembered that she had been sniffly when she conceived her first baby and had probably been on cough medications of some sort. During her next cycle, she tried a few days of Robitussin therapy, and she got pregnant on the first try! Chelsea’s Unexpected Pregnancy You really never know what can happen when you’re dealing with fertility, as Chelsea found out. Basically, she and her husband were diagnosed with unexplained infertility before they were even thirty! A little discouraged but not ready to give up hope, the couple tried several rounds of IUI over a period of three years, taking things slowly because they knew they had some biological time. When none of the IUI rounds worked, they decided to try IVF. They took out a loan, and took a few months off of charting and trying to conceive. During this time off, Chelsea suddenly noticed one day that her period was late. Thinking nothing of it, she let it slide for a few more days, thinking maybe the stress of the impending IVF was making her body do weird things. When she was a whole week late, she decided to take a pregnancy test, which, amazingly came back positive! Talk about a miracle baby! Sarah Conceives with PCOS Sarah was diagnosed with PCOS at an early age, so she always knew that getting pregnant would be difficult. When she and her husband, Steve, married, they only waited 3 months, and then started right in on medications, including Clomid. They had no luck, so they moved on to IUI, which also didn’t work. After scraping together their resources, they paid for a single round of IVF, which also didn’t end up working for them. Instead of giving up hope, the couple decided to take a more natural approach. This time, Sarah saw a naturopath and started on some supplements just for women with PCOS. She also hit the gym five times a week and dropped fifty pounds, which brought her periods back on a more regular basis. Using an at-home ovulation predicting kit, Sarah and her husband timed things correctly and were finally pregnant within six months! Kristin’s Long Battle with Infertility Kristin and her husband had a very long struggle with infertility that started when she was just twenty-five. After trying for a year to get pregnant, she decided to see a fertility specialist recommended by her OB/GYN. The fertility specialist couldn’t diagnose a particular problem with Kristin or her husband, Joseph, but they started trying Clomid, anyway. When that didn’t work for a few months, they tried four rounds of IUI. This exhausting process didn’t lead to a pregnancy, either. Then, trying to rally all the energy she could, Kristin started trying stress relief techniques, having a weekly acupuncture session, and eating a super healthy diet. Then, she and Joseph started their first round of IVF. It didn't take, but they were able to cryopreserve several embryos from that cycle. They then used those embryos for two more rounds in a process that took another six months. At this point, Kristin was about ready to give up. On her last two week wait from IVF, she and Joseph decided to adopt. But then, she went into her specialist for a blood test, and, surprise! She was pregnant. Not only that, but she later found out that she was going to have twins.
