Q. What Causes Tooth Loss?


A. Severe periodontal disease (gum & bone disease) at times crack teeth.  Gross decay in the tooth structure.


Q. What Causes Periodontal Diseases?

A. Poor oral hygiene causes accumulation of plaque (bacteria) that leads to bone loss and gum recession, and eventually tooth loss.  Periodontal disease is an infection in the mouth.


Q. Can Periodontal Diseases Be Prevented?

A. Yes, getting regular dental check ups, brushing, and flossing every day.


Q. How Does Plaque Attack the Gums?

A. Plaque consists of different kinds of bacteria. Their by product produces acids that attack the gum and bone.  The body’s reaction to these acids are by resorbing bone and gum recession that leads to tooth loss.


Q. How Do You Stop Plaque Attacks?

A. By having a good oral hygiene, brushing, flossing, and visiting your dentist twice a year.


Q. How many times a day should I brush my teeth?

A. At least 2 times a day.


Q. What kind of toothpaste should I use?


A.  Any kind of toothpaste that is ADA approved.
