The Top Diet Plans by Professionals |

As you probably know by now, there are various types of diets available online. Be warned that not all these diet programs have been recommended by experts. Here we have listed five diets that are generally recommended as the best by professional dieticians.
1. NutriSystem- This is such a convenient way to lose weight. The company sells pre-packaged meals from their online site. It will be delivered to your doorstep, when you order. You can try their meals for extended periods. The system is based on the the glycemic index. They offer solutions for a wide range of people, for women, men, heart patients, kids, etc. Daily calorie counts come to around 1200-1500 allowing for 3 meals and 2 snacks.
2. Medifast Diet- This is a classic diet but now it's become more accessible. Products can be ordered via the internet. The food is low calorie, low-fat and consisting of a generous helping of vitamins. The plan which receives most demand is called 5 and 1. It makes you lose about 2-5 pounds per week. Medifast has to their credit the research that was conducted by the Johns, leading to the finding that Medifast results in considerable weight loss. Another study has found that Medifast is very effective at regulating type 2 diabetes. Conducted by Hopkins University
3. South- This is a program similar to Atkins but considered to be better for the heart. This diet was created by a cardiologist from Florida. It too restricts carbs; only good carbs (low GI) are allowed in the program. Food like potatoes, bread, cereal, rice, pasta, and sugary veggies like beets and carrots are a no-no in the initial two weeks. They are not encouraged thereafter as well. The first phase is quite strict, like the Atkins.
So how does South differ from Atkins? It promoted healthy fats and it doesn't count grams of carbs. Instead it counts the sugar in carbs. So basically low sugar carbs are encouraged for consumption.
4. Sonoma Diet- This was born in the mind of Dr Connie Guttersen, PhD, RD. She encourages people to look at dieting as a celebration, not as a long term duty. According to her, the best way to achieve results is by pleasing yourself with the right food in right amounts, rather than depriving yourself. Even in the most depriving phase of the diet you'll still find cereal, eggs and low-fat dairy in your meals. After the induction time, nothing is really banned. You can even treat yourself to wine and a sweet or two on a weekly basis.
So how does this diet work? Saturated fats and refined carbs (white sugar, white flour) are forbidden. This means that you'll have to let go of your lust for processed foods. If you love fresh organic produce, like fruits and veggies, this is the diet program for you.
5. The Zone Diet- Made popular by Dr Barry Sears, this diet is not just about losing weight too. It asks you to retool your metabolism with a meal that contains 40% carbohydrates and 30% each of proteins and fats. According to Dr Sears this program can help you to regulate high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease and also give you better fitness. He maintains that diets based on high carbohydrates and low protein and fat are misleading. A set ratio of these food groups is though to have a positive effect on the body's health. Accordingly, you don't need to cut back on calories as such, just change the type of calories.
Article Summary- This article is a result of filtering out the many diets you find online, to give you the most effective diet programs, as recommended by experts. We are sure there is a diet program that will suit your lifestyle and needs. Please note that you should consult a dietician before taking up any program. |
