Good Eating Habits |
|
No, I don’t want to hear you start whining again! We all have a helter – skelter life and such tight schedules to stick to, but it doesn’t give you the licence to neglect your health! You have to pay good attention to your health and diet. It’s not enough that you eat the proper foods, it’s also important that you regulate the way you eat these foods.
Therefore, the next time you sit down for a meal, just keep in mind a couple of things:
1. Don’t eat fast; chew your food properly
Did you know that it takes, on average about 20 minutes for your stomach to send an SMS to your brain that your tummy is full? It doesn’t help if you keep gorging on food as fast as you can. If you eat slowly, you’ll realize that you start eating lesser food. Also, make sure that you have smaller frequent meals rather than larger irregular ones!
2. Don’t starve your body!
If you really, honestly, want to start shedding those excess kilos, then you better start eating! Yes, you read perfectly correctly, YOU BETTER EAT! The whole concept behind this is that when you’re body isn’t receiving the nutrients its supposed to, your body won’t be burning enough calories while you’re resting, which effectively means that there’ll be less fat loss. You should eat small quantities in regular intervals so that you can keep your energy high!
3. Say no to red meat
Red meat have an extremely high saturated fat content and you shouldn’t be eating it if you have high cholesterol. Chicken and fish are what I would recommend that you eat. Actually, fish is the better option if you have a choice, because they contain antioxides, which assist you in avoiding cancer and heart diseases.
4. Prevent constipation
Include some fibre in your diet to avoid constipation. Most whole grain foods such as brown rice, oatmeal, bran, fruits with the skin are what you should be consuming for fibre. In case you’re suffering from constipation, here’s what you can do rather than make the journey to the doc:
Eat guavas with the seeds
Add some honey to a glass of milk, and consume it twice a day
Add a spoon of corn syrup to a glass of water.
5. Eat some onion and garlic
Onions and garlic decresases BP and cholesterol respectively. The amount of garlic and onions you eat is not a big issue, just that you should have some. However, a raw garlic clove early in the morning on an empty stomach will do a world of good for you.
6. Consume foods rich in calcium
Try to drink some more skimmed and double – toned milk, as they contain less fat than full – cream milk. Of course, there are other sources of calcium in case you happen to be allergic to milk. These include red kidney beans, mustard greens, almonds and figs. |
