It’s a funny question, really. Why should we eat healthy foods? It sounds fairly obvious, so that we’ll be healthy. But, the next time, when someone actually asks you why you should eat healthy foods, don’t be stumped for an answer. Here are some good enough reasons:
1. Watch more and more clothes fit
When you start following a good diet plan, you learn to eat meals which have a good balance of all the nutrition you need. 4 weeks into your diet (assuming you’ve been following it properly) and you’ll start to realize, to your delight, that all those clothes which were so tight suddenly seem to fit you perfect. You’ll also actually feel more active, and will be more inclined to spend some more time outdoors rather than be cooped up inside the house.
2. Reduces BP
Alcohol, fast food and caffeine can put you on the road to high BP, also increasing the risk of diabetes, heart diseases, strokes vis – a – vis. You can reduce hypertension by introducing more fruit, vegetables and low – fat food into your eating patterns.
3. Reduces the chance of cardiovascular disease and some varieties of cancer
The saturated fats, which make their presence felt in butter, meat and coconut oil put you at a high risk of heart disease. 2 other things which can fuel heart diseases are the trans fat found in margarine, packed foods and all types of fast foods, and sodium, which can come as a result of a high dose of salty foods and some packaged foods. Cancers afflicting the mouth, throat, stomach, and bowel can be avoided to a large extent by adopting a nutritious diet.
4. Makes your life better
By eating healthy foods, you can improve your overall well – being. Healthy foods can make your hair much softer and can make your skin look as if its polished. You’ll be able to get your weight down to the ‘perfect weight’ bracket, which would effectively mean that your stamina increases. Your sleeps will be much deeper, you’ll be able to concentrate for longer periods at a stretch and see an increase in productivity of your work. You’ll also realize that you’ll be able to hold that evil person called ‘stress’ by the neck and take command over him / her (depending on what sex you’d like to classify stress as!).
You won’t fall sick too often and, even if you do, you’ll find yourself up and running in no time due to the increase in immunity. You’ll feel much more confident in life and be able to get the full experience that life has to offer.
Being healthy doesn’t involve an almighty struggle against yourself. It’s all about understanding your body properly and giving it what it actually needs. |
