Getting Control of Your Life |
|
Well, it can be quite a daunting task, but you should take control of your life RIGHT NOW! Stress at the workplace, unhappy family life, all these can contribute to a hectic life, and this would mean that you lose control of what you eat and just gulp in anything that your stomach can take, regardless of whether it’s actually good for your body or not.
Strong emotions can surge your cravings to eat something, but there are plenty of ways to keep these temptations under control. To stop you from eating just because you’re stressed out and lost control of your life, here are some tips:
1. Try to differentiate between real hunger and false hunger
I know it sounds kinda crazy, but it is true! Most of us often think we are hungry, rather than feel hungry. If you’ve just had something a couple of hours ago and don’t feel your stomach groaning for some food, you’re not actually hungry. Just resist the craving for some time and it will go away
2. Identify what triggers your craving
For a few week from now, pen down whatever goes into your mouth, the quantity which goes, when you eat, how you feel and how hungry you feel at that time. After some time, you’ll start to find out that there are certain patterns which arent’ so good for your body and you’ll be able to avoid these triggers
3. Find something else for comfort
Instead of stuffing a chocolate in your mouth to relieve the stress, go outside and get some fresh air, take a trip to the theatre, read something or ring up your friend. If you feel that stress is what’s tempting your legs towards the refrigerator, have a chat with someone to distract your mind.
4. Don’t stock on junk food
Don’t fill your refrigerator with food that you know will lead to poor health in the future. Cut down on the high – calorie foods. If you’re feeling hungry or bored, just delay the trip to the local mall for a couple of hours so that you won’t find yourself influenced by these feelings when you shop.
5. Eat healthy snacks
If you have the temptation to snack between meals, try out something which is low – fat, low – calorie such as some fruits, veggies or popcorn without the butter or cheese. Try out some low fat low cal versions of what you normally eat and you’ll find that they’re as good as their unhealthy counterparts!
If you give into the temptation of eating whenever your mind wants you to, forgive yourself and promise that you won’t do it the next day. Learn from what happened and plan on how you could possibly prevent it from happening again. Keep a focus on the positives that’ve happened with regard to your eating lifestyle and give yourself a pat on the back for doing so |
