| The health risk caused by grief |
Grief can be defined as the pain' sorrow and sadness caused as a result of losing something or someone. Usually' a person is struck by grief due to reasons such as the demise of a parent' relative' sibling' child' friend' pet' or due to the loss of possessions such as property' money and even prestige/ status.
It is hard and shocking to hear the fact of losing a loved one' and the damage it does to those alive can be very serious. This article aims to highlight and explain the health risks that are caused by grief' and how serious it can get.
It is a fact that upon hearing the bad news of losing the loved one' the person in concern would be shocked and shaken' which is the first instance where it could lead to some serious health risks.
Feelings of exhaustion and fatigue' and loss of enthusiasm' energy and appetite could be seen in the grief-stricken after the unfortunate incident' and as a result of it' the aggrieved would suffer from minor illnesses such as headaches' abdominal pains' heart aches' back pains' aches in other areas of the body' nausea or vomiting' and diarrhea.
However' it should be noted that this could even cause some greater illnesses such as heart attacks' and strokes depending on the relationship that the deceased and the one alive shared. Such attacks could also come up depending on how the conveyor of the message conveys the bad news.
Trauma and permanent disorders can also be caused as a result of such grief. This would be mainly due to the stress and strain that the person would undergo as a result of continuous thinking of the deceased and the loss. Breathing difficulties could also be seen in those who are grief-stricken' thus making them less healthy and prone to both major and minor attacks.
Things can get even worse if the person alive is very badly and intensely shocked and struck upon hearing the unfortunate incident. In such an instance' the one alive might get paralyzed thus making him/ her unable to walk' talk or hear. There have been numerous instances where the grief-stricken have suffered from temporary (and sometimes even permanent) deafness' loss of sight' loss of sense and dumbness.
To overcome such health risks' one important factor would be time. People would need time to forget things and put them behind' and as time passes by' the more the chance they have for recovery. Medicinal care can also help alleviate such risks' but the aggrieved would require counseling and love to get over things fast and overcome such health risks.
However' the worst thing that can happen to one upon hearing the bad news is death. You might have heard of people who have died instantaneously on hearing such bad news due to severe heart attacks and strokes.
