An Interview with Dr. Winton Quock on Invisalign

Dr. Winton Quock is an orthodontist and has answered some of the common questions bizymoms visitors have about Invisalign.

Q. What is Invisalign?

A. Invisalign is a company that makes a series of clear, removable, aligners that are designed to fit over the teeth to move and straighten them without having to wear braces. After your orthodontist or dentist has made a treatment plan for you, he or she would prescribe for you a series of custom aligners to be made by Invisalign to straighten your  teeth according to the treatment plan.

Q. How does Invisalign work?

A. Each aligner moves your teeth an increment so that you would change to the next aligner approximately every two to three weeks to continue to move your teeth until they are straight.

Q. What are the primary benefits of Invisalign?

A. They are removable so you can keep your teeth clean with regular brushing and flossing. They are nearly invisible so they won’t interfere with your lifestyle and they are comfortable because they are smooth and molded to the shape of your teeth.

Q. How long does Invisalign treatment take?

A. Office appointments usually take a few minutes and your appointments are usually scheduled every four to six weeks. How long Invisalign treatment takes depends on your treatment plan.

Q. How much does Invisalign cost?

A. The cost varies depending on the length of treatment and the treatment plan.

Q. Who uses Invisalign?

A. Adults and teenagers can use Invisalign.

Q. Are there certain dental conditions that automatically exclude someone from being an eligible patient?

A. There are certain conditions such as severely rotated teeth, tipped teeth, partially erupted teeth or impacted teeth that may require braces before using Invisalign. Severe overbites, underbites and crossbites are candidates for orthodontic treatment with braces but not with Invisalign. It is best to consult with an orthodontist  to determine what would be best for your situation.

Q. How to contact Dr. Quock if we have further questions?
