Q. Does hair transplant look Natural?
A. The hair transplants look as natural as normal hair because it is normal hair.
Q. How long does it take to recover from hair transplant surgery?
A. Most of the recovery is over the first week. We recommend washing the hair two days after the procedure. There will be a little crusting over the first 2-4 days. The patient can return to work almost immediately, but there will be some evidence of the microincisions made for graft placement. One can return to full activities in 10 days.
Q. What are the types of hair transplants you perform?
A. We perform only follicular unit transplanting. That means we transplant units of one, two, or three follicles, depending on the density of the recipient hair. These micrografts are very small and are the reason that the transplant looks so natural. This is very labor intensive and requires a high degree of skill and accuracy, but in the long run, it is well worth it. The grafts are typically harvested from the back of the scalp, but if there is lack of donor site, they can be harvested from many other areas of the body, at extra expense.
Q. Are the options for combating Hair loss in men different from women?
A. Hair transplantation is the best method for hair restoration and the process is similar in men and women.
Q. Are there complications or risks in a hair transplant?
A. The risks are very low, but include infection, bleeding, donor site scar widening and graft loss. We do give the patients oral antibiotics around the time of the procedure to prevent infection. We request the patients to be off of aspirin, ibuprofen, and Vitamin E for at least 1-2 weeks prior to the procedure to minimize bleeding.
Q. If a client has already had a transplant with another doctor and is disappointed with the results, can it be redone?
A. If the patient has already undergone unsatisfactory hair transplantation from another doctor, then there are many techniques that we can employ to correct the problem and give them a natural looking result. We can customize the procedure to ensure this. |
