A. Pimples are a layman’s term. Pustules are inflamed lesions filled with pus.
Q. Does an increase in acne occur as a result of chocolates and greasy foods consumption?
A. Unlike what is suggested in magazines, acne is not related to food intake. It is a disease process which is in part genetic and in part related to the skin’s external environment.
Q. During which periods of life are women more prone to acne?
A. Woman is prone to acne from puberty to middle age.
Q. What are the treatment methodologies for moderate and severe acne?
A. Moderate to severe acne is treated with oral and topical antibiotics, oral or topical retinoid (Vita. A derivatives) sulfa drugs, benzoyl peroxide and now laser or photo dynamic therapy (PDT).
Q. Are there any recommended cosmetics for people with acne?
A. Any cosmetic which does not leave the face oily or greasy can be used.
