| Dr. Jerry E. Cooley is a Diplomat of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. Here the Doctor has answered some of the common questions Bizymoms visitors have about Hair transplant.
Q. Does hair transplant look Natural?
Yes, the results will be completely natural. The density of the result will depend on how many grafts we do and the nature of the patient’s hair. Sometimes more than one procedure is necessary.
Q. How long does it take to recover from hair transplant surgery?
Rapid healing is one of the things our clinic is known for. In fact patients who find us on the internet often tell us that is why they chose us. Recently, we have had patients come to see us from California, New York, Florida, as well as Canada and England, because of our reputation for natural results and rapid healing.
Q. What are the types of hair transplants you perform?
I perform microscopic follicular unit transplantation, which means the hair grafts are dissected under microscopes into their natural groupings of 1,2, and 3 hair groupings. This ensures naturalness, density, and the least amount of trauma to the scalp.
Q. Are the options for combating Hair loss in men different from women?
In men, the approach is more straightforward. Most men are candidates for transplantation. We usually prescribe Propecia® and may recommend Rogaine®. In women, the evaluation and treatment recommendation is more complicated and usually involves blood tests, videomicroscopic hair and scalp analysis, as well as a recommendation plan that has more components.
Q. Are there complications or risks in a hair transplant?
Rarely. Scarring in the back of the scalp is rarely a problem and can be corrected if it occurs. There is no scarring in the transplanted area. Complications such as swelling, infection, or pain are minimal.
Q. If a client has already had a transplant with another doctor and is disappointed with the results, can it be redone?
Yes. I do a lot of corrective work and really enjoy it because the patients are so grateful for the improvement we can give them. Unnatural results, such as old style "plugs" can be removed and divided into single hair grafts to be re-transplanted elsewhere. |
